By the way; I still do LovemySi and am surprised at how many paople think I have "ass" or "si" as in yes, as part of the name. I miss some of the people I used to interact with on a daily basis. Sucks that time always marches on when you don't always want it to.
Wow, talk about a blast from the past! I almost forgot that this blog even exsisted. Kind of fun to go through it though and remember back to olden times. I wonder if anyone I know now will find this lol. Wednesday, February 02, 2005

So after a looooooooooong time I finally got my site uploaded again. Well here's a quick update on me and whats been going on:
Summer school ended (what seems like an eternity ago!) and I transferred to Chico State. I ended up lucking out and found A house with two room mates on Chico Student Housing. Michael had looked on this site a long time ago to replace his old room mate, so I checked there and Chico Enterprise Record, long story short, checked it out and gave them my deposit. So with registering late I got most of the classes I wanted, but in the third week of the semester I found out who my advisor was and met with her. She informed me that I needed to be enrolled in three classes that were not currently on my schedule. So I dropped a couple classes and picked the three up. There were two more that I should have been in, but I didn't know anyone at the time and didn't know if I could catch up on two weeks worth of work in Music History and Theorvy IV. (Both are full of homework and just plain work!) So I am going to take them next fall. I can never sit by the sidelines, I don't know why or what the hell I was thinking. So I got on the Band Staff and was appointed P.R. Something or other (I don't remember the title). For our concert in Dec. I put in a ton of work for the program. I ended up getting assigned writing the program notes, which was fine..easy...rrrrrright. So I researched the pieces and typed up the notes and got them proofed by half of a dozen people over and over again. So after adding a few commas I was done, or so I thought. In the mean time I had offered to look up pictures to be used some how for a piece that we were performing. The song was a rememberance for Sept 11. I found pictures of the planes crashing, some before and after stuff, some digital chops people had made, etc ,etc, then I found the site with all the mourning pictures at Embassy's and Consulates all over the world. It was a jackpot for the piece. So I saved all of the pictures and ended up making a slideshow through PowerPoint. It was fantastic. It worked with the music incredibly well, the fades and timing were nice, I was really proud. I put in over 12 hours worth of work on this alone, aside from practicing, rehearsals, and misc. homework. So it's all done, my director loved it, the proofing people loved it. BUT I'LL BE DAMNED IF WE USED IT!!! Dr. Tevis (Director), some tech people, and I went to Laxon (performing hall) to see where they would set up the screen, the projector, the computer, etc, etc....but some damned lazyass stage guy was a pain in the ass and said that we couln't do it for some lameass excuse. (Read: He was too lazy to set up the screen.) So there goes that project. I saved itof course, and Dr. Tevis is saying we may repeat the piece in a different hall that is already equipped for the media, but I doubt it will be anytime soon. So that was that let down. Later that day I saw Nathan (who is the president of the staff) and he told me that Nate (different guy) was having problems with the script. I was like "heh, not my problem." I didn't say it, but thats what I was thinking. Then I saw Dr. Tevis, Nora (grad assistant), and Adrienne (secretary). They showed me the script, I read it.....soooo bad and the info was incorrect too on somethings. So they asked me if I could tweak it so we could get it to Joe _____, some guy from a local NPR station who was announcing or whatever at our concert. So I studied my program notes and re-wrote most of it and turned it in the next day. I sent it through the proofing people again and they were very pleases with the turn around and the content. I have never put that much work into a concert, in hindsight I did the program notes, the script, a presentation (we didn't even use!!!), plus advertising, set up the CSUC Music Dep't. info booth, and put up posters and stuff. It was a lot of work, but I enjoyed it. I am a glutton for punishment I suppose. So anyways, my first semester at Chico ended and Winter Intersession just started with the Spring semester peeking around the corner. It should be interesting to see how it goes. I think I am going to double major. I think I am going to get my option in Music industry as well as Music Ed while I am here. I have to take some marketing and business classes for industry..I bet that is going to be boring and "teh suck". I am going to try and add to a photography class this semester, that Michael tells me works with Photoshop, should be interesting to see how that turns out, I hope I can get in. So there is my looooooooooong update. I'll keep adding more and more in here though, so keep watching! |
